Mrs. Andrew (Louise)
Galdun, 65, passed away
unexpectedly Mar. 12, at her
home 3074 W. 110th St.,
Cleveland, Ohio, at the age of
65.

She was born in Wadena Feb.
9, 1910, to parents Earl and
Cora Bryce Hess. She was
married to Andrew Galdun
Jr., Sept. 8, 1928, at Carrington,
N.D. and was active in the
Eastern Star and the Pythians at
Cleveland. Her husband,
Andrew, Jr., is a tried tool and
die maker who worked for the
Midland-Ross company.

Also surviving are two sons
James and Gary, three
grandchildren, one great-
grandchild and a brother,
Elmer Hess of Anaheim,
California.

Funeral services were held
Mar. 15 at 9:30 a.m. at the
Bollinger Funeral Home,9810
Denison Avenue, Cleveland.
Interment in Cleveland.

Casketbearers were Clayton
Knipper, George Zipay, Frank
Daley, Gus Bizay, Malcolm
Little and Al Cepec.

She was preceded by her
parents, one brother, Victor
Hess, and a sister, Gloria
Andrews.

Attending the funeral from

Crocker of Verndale,
Minnesota.

Formerly of Verndale,
Passes at Montevideo

Mrs. Carrie Espelin, former
resident of Wadena county, pass-
ed away of heart ailhent at 7:10
Thursday morning at her home
at Montevideo. She was 80 years
and 2 months of age.
Funeral services were conduct-
ed at the Trinity Lutheran church
at Montevideo with the Rev. Si-
las Erickson and Rev. Knudson
of New Ellington, S. D., officiat-
ing. Interment was made at
Willmar beside the remains of
her husband.
Carrie Espelin was born on
Jan. 20, 1868, at Soderham, Swe-
den, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Johann Olson. As a girl she im-
migrated to America with her
parents, who settled near Will-
mar, and where she made her
home until 1916 when they mov-
ed to Verdale.
Seven years ago, after the
death of her husband, she moved
to Montevideo.
Of her nine children, four
survive. They are: Myrtle, Mrs.
Clarence Thompson of Ogden,
Utah; Lillie, Mrs. William Set-
ten of Minneapolis; June, Mrs.
Harry Lindberg of Rochester,
and one son, Arthur, Monte-
video. Three sons and two
daughters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Espelind is also survived
by a nephew, John Olson, of Wa-
dena, and a number of relatives
in Sweden.

Laid to Rest
Monday Morning

Was Resident Of
Blue Grass Area
For Many Years

Funeral services were conduct-
ed Monday morning, August 18,
from St. Hubert's Catholic Church,
Blue Grass, for Mrs. Frances
Kempf, a resident of the Blue
Grass community for many years.
The Rev. William VanRooy of-
ficiated at the Requiem High Mass
and interment was in the church
cemetery. Peter and Alois Kempf
and Alois, George, Frank and
Simon Kern served as bearers.

Mrs. Kempf passed away
August 15 in St. Micheals Hos-
pital in East Grand Forks where
she had been visitiing in the home
of her daughter, Mrs. Einer Sve-
dahl.

She was born Frances Fruth,
on June 1, 1668 in Amberg, Ger-
many. She came to this country
as a child and was married in
January, 1896 in St. Cloud to
Frank Kempf, Sr., who passed
away on October 1, 1944.

The Christian Mother's Society
of St. Hubert's Church attended
the funeral in a body and there
was a parish vigil Sunday evening
at the Scherkenbach Funeral
Home at 8 o'clock.

Three daughters and three sons
survive, Mrs. Einer Svedahl (Ver-
ona) of East Grand Forks, Minn.,
Joseph Kempf of Silverton, Ore.,
Mrs. Mary Braun of Elberta,
Minn., Mrs. Steve Satzer (Anna)
of Morris, Minn., John Kempf of
Astoria, Ore., and Frank Kempf.
